Well its officially official. I AM A RACE CAR DRIVER.
Awesome fun yesterday but definitely room for improvement, Dad seems to think he has me beat.
In the first race I started from 31st (out of 45) and felt I did well to finish 32nd after spinning twice. The first spin was my fault, but the second time was on the last lap where there was oil on the track (which I didn’t know about) and a whole group of us hit it and spun. I was rather frustrated to loss so many spots through no fault of my own, but that’s Motorsport.
After the race the weather turned miserable with a lot of rain so I was rather worried (as MR2’s are notoriously bad in the wet) but it cleared up in time for my second race.
I started from 32nd with 3 similar MR2’s which I was aiming to beat just ahead of me. I had a much better race having some good battles but most importantly didn’t spin (so I was much more relaxed). However there was some frustration when i got overtaken under safety car (one of the most basic no-nos in racing). In the end I managed to beat those MR2’s to finish in 26th so it was a great result.
Totally loved my first race day and can’t wait for February were Dad and I will do a race each.
