Manawatu Car Club E Series

When the Manawatu Car Club, hosts of the North Island MX5 series, announced they were hosting an MX5 iRacing league I was immediately excited. I’ve raced in the South Island MX5 series and obviously love sim racing so this was right up my ally.

Bring on the Manawatu Car Club iRacing Winter Series.

Designed for members of the Manawatu Car Club the series also allowed entries from across the country. I signed up and so did fellow South Island MX5 competitor Ayven Dunn. In the first round we had over 40 cars on track! It was awesome. It was also the expected high levels of carnage having that many MX5s together in iRacing.

The format was as follows:
The Wednesday before each round will be an open practice session for 3 hours starting at 7:30pm for anyone wanting to crack the track. The Wednesday after each Feilding Auto Electrical Winter Series Round will be the race evening consisting of:
30min Practice
15min Qualifying
1x 20 lap Heat race

1x 20 Lap feature race reverse grid of the results from heat race.

At the end of the 4 rounds I came home 3rd overall! Stoked I managed third behind the insanely quick duo of Cooper Prout and Ayven Dunn. Those two would carve through the field to finish top two even in the reverse races, they really were a big step above everyone else and a well deserved 1-2. Super cool to get a sweet trophy from it too. They even included the sim racing in the clubs prize giving night. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there so offered to pass on the prizes, iRacing credits and Garage 5 merch, to someone their on the night from the club.
